Beautiful downtown Flatonia Texas. A double header here. The shot with the Lyric Theater has a Lomo effect done in GIMP. The “e.miller” shot is using 2 Elsamuko scripts.A National Geographic Script and a Kodachrome curves action. Taken October 2010.

Hi All! (well, the 5 who know about this blog). More photos are in the pipeline. I’m going to do some digital, I haven’t joined the “Dark Side” but with travel and all, I can post more. This camera is sort of semi-famous in camera circles anyway. It has a Zeiss lens and I’ve had mine 10 years. Here’s a few photos. I took this in Baltimore at Fell’s Point back in February 2002. This morning in GIMP I used Elsamuko’s really nice Technicolor 3 script and went a tad fake hi-def. Sort of a 1950′s postcard feel.

For 4 years to the minute literally, I lived just south of the Quebec/Vermont/New York border. I loved living there very much! I was out walking after work at Point au Roche on Lake Champlain. This is mid november and the snow flurries had started.

The sun shine and flurries. The woods were very quiet, except the sound of branches rubbing when the wind blew, it sounded like the hold of a old sailing ship. I had the Yashica T4 super with me, and snapped this with the snow flurries and sunshine.

The Russians make some cheap (except for the shipping, which is murder) cameras and lenses. So, this is done with a Russan Helios 44 lens, a 1974 vintage lens. Not sure the film, but just a warm mask added, and at that believe it or not, not a strong one. This is Brookpark Rd. in Parma OH on a hot sunday morning August 2008, just after I moved to the Cleveland area.

Back in the days of APS, I bought a cheapy Polaroid 6500af camera. It was a point and shoot. This is Ryde, Isle of Wight in England. I tried to find a photo of the Polaroid 6500af but it’s just nowhere to be found. Ebay, Google. Nothing.

Konica Z-up 70

This Z-up 70 was only $2.50 at the Thrift Store. Brand new shape. CVS film and develop and scan to CD. Here’s a favorite image done 2 ways.

This first is a more or less conventional image. Sharpen/Levels/black border in GIMP. The Motel is along route 6, on Lake Erie, just east of Sandusky OH.

This second is square crop and a cross process (slide film done in color print chemistry) Lomo effect in GIMP.

Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim

The Vivitar UWS is really becoming a cult. I bought mine on Ebay for 5 bucks a few years ago. It’s way more expensive now. It is cheapy plastic and very delicate. The lens is 22mm wide angle. This camera really lends itself to a Lomo Effect in GIMP!

First up is some power lines west of Lorain OH along Route 2. The C2G filter in GIMP really worked well here. Other than that just contrast and levels. I desaturated the image to LAB to change to black and white.

I try to walk everyday and the ParmaTown Mall is close. Macy’s with a C2G from GIMP and a blue layer added. This mall still has hints of how it was back in the 70′s and 80′s.

Olympus Trip AF 50

I was a lucky guy. I went into a thrift store in Parma OH and found this camera in perfect condition for $2.50. Two fresh AA batteries and a roll of Kodak C-41 black and white film and I went out locally. Here is the camera, it has a fixed 28mm lens. Autofocus and pretty much auto-everything. This roll processed at CVS develop and CD only for $5 and change.First photo is Lakewood OH, just west of Cleveland. The further building is my cardiologists office (my heart and arteries are in excellent shape-no worries). I was there to pick up some paperwork and took a walk. In this photo, I used GIMP and did a levels/sharpen/C2G effect to fix it up the way I liked. A black border added also.

The railroad track shot is pretty cliched, but I just wanted to see how it would handle a washed out grey sky and detail. Also Lakewood, very close to the first photo. Sharpen and Levels in GIMP is about it that’s different from the original.
